Splash Wireless, LLC

Richland-based Splash Wireless Internet, LLC was founded by veteran Brian Matthews in 2012 and guided by Mitch Koep, with the idea of providing quality high-speed internet service to rural areas. With the help of Josh Walters, lead installer, Splash has grown, expanding its infrastructure to even more cities and counties in Missouri. Splash doubled the size of its family in 2019 and continues to expand while upgrading existing systems to include 40 towers in the Tri-County area.

Brian set out on a mission to bring low cost, premium quality broadband service to the rural areas of Richland and to make high quality cutting-edge technology available and affordable to all communities. The Company envisions itself as a key provider of high speed Internet service to consumers and businesses to whom such service is otherwise cost-prohibitive or out of reach due to a lack of rural coverage by major providers.

Wagon Wheel Restaurant

Richland’s premier diner is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the corner of Jefferson and Washington Streets (at the stoplight–yes, there is just one). Sunday lunch buffet is loaded with all the essentials for a great family meal, and there is a large banquet room for groups. Daily specials and great desserts make this a good choice if you are passing through or live in Richland.

Vintage Chandelier

In a beautifully restored c. 1913 building on Pine Street in historic Richland, Vintage Chandelier event planning welcomes you. A company founded by Jill Hartman and Angie Homan, the VC is a quaint little place located at 219 S. Pine where you can gather with family and friends. Since opening, the Vintage Chandelier has hosted weddings, book club gatherings, family reunions, baby and wedding showers and a host of other activities and events. You can book your event now on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/vintagechandelier/

Mac and Beth Myers and son Seth lovingly restored the building in 2018 building their own light fixtures, staircase, flooring, and counter. It just sparkles at Christmas time. What was once a dentist office in the 1800s has become a sweet spot for local gatherings at the umbrella tables on the sidewalk or upstairs looking out a wall of windows onto the street below with a view of the historic H.E. Warren Store stone marker dating back to 1869.

The Burger Stand

An institution in Richland, The Burger Stand has been around since the 60s (the famous clown sign too). It is one of those mom and pop drive-ins where you can still get a fresh meat pattie cooked on the grill while you watch. You’ll have to check out the “Named Burgers” made for special regulars who like a custom approach to burger-making. The crispy chicken salad is another great option with fries and a milkshake. In warm weather, people make use of the shady grounds where scattered picnic tables make for an impromptu picnic among friends.

Market Basket Cafe, Catering and Flowers

Whether you are on your way to the Lake of the Ozarks from I-44, or you are visiting the Richland area, you simply must stay long enough to do lunch at this quaint, friendly little cafe at 302 West Washington Ave. (Turn right at the light). In addition to home-cooked soups, sandwiches, and daily specials, there are signature desserts and occasional Friday Steak Nite’s and Sunday Lunch buffets. While you wait for lunch, you can browse the gift shop area and fresh flower arrangements, or even arrange your next catered meal with owner Barb Bolan.

Silk Road

A local favorite for Asian cuisine is The Silk Road at 215 S. Pine in Richland. The service is courteous and fast, the menu is extensive with the popular Bento Boxes daily and sushi on Thursdays.

Daugherty’s Pub & Grub

It’s the Richland version of “Cheers.” Everybody knows your name, and there’s always someone there you know. Veteran Sue Daugherty and sister Jackie renovated their father’s pub a few years ago, bringing back to life not only the beautiful 1940’s bar that was shipped from Germany and transported by train from St. Louis, but the spirit of community and family that makes it a place the kids can come too. Sometimes it’s just a nice place to have a beer with a friend, but when there’s a holiday or event in town, Sue and Jackie go a little crazy. Octoberfest, St. Patrick’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Christmas Parade…let’s just say it’s worth the trip to Richland just to see what kind of costume these two sisters will come up with next.

coffee shop and quilt classes

Sanctuary Coffee and Quilts

Opening in January of 2020 in a historic c.1925 church building fully renovated by the owners, this unique little gathering place has everything you might find in an urban coffee shop and more. From the moment you step over the Italian tile entry through gorgeous wooden doors onto the polished concrete floors, you know you are about to have an “experience.” The barista behind the counter offers a welcoming smile along with an assortment of coffee and tea made with a machine built in Italy and shipped over. Espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha, chai tea, hot tea, trinity, affogto as well as extra shots and ice cream! It is heaven, and the ambiance is elegant, but casual.

Internet is available for study groups, books clubs, and just groups of friends.

If coffee is not your passion, then perhaps quilts will bring you to The Sanctuary. Nita Bechtel, owner, is a quilting guru who has set up a room for classes with fabrics and sewing machines, and in February will be adding a top-of-the-line Innova quilting machine. People may pay a rental fee or may use the machine free of charge with required purchases.

Future plans include a venue for weddings and other events in the sanctuary on the second level, where stained glass windows give a glow that has welcomed and inspired churchgoers for almost 100 years. Entrepreneurship is alive and well in Richland!
