Richland is like most small towns. The heart and soul of community activities can be found in its schools and churches. You can see it in photos of kids’ programs that include visits to the zoo, VBS, Summer Block Party on the lawn of the high school, and Christmas pageants. The Richland Ministerial Alliance, made up of 9 area churches of various denominations, makes it their job to bring folks together. In fact, two times a year, they do just that. They invite all churches and the unchurched to come to a Community Service where the message, prayer, music, and communion are shared by all churches. The offering helps fund the RMA’s assistance program that provides help to those who need gas or groceries for their family, or an electric bill paid. The RMA also supports a Back to School program in late July where area families can pick up backpacks filled with school supplies for their children.
